Soon, your baby will begin to sleep for longer blocks of time and at more regular intervals. Now is the time to mark your return to fitness with an exercise plan.

Work with your spouse to plan an equitable schedule with one of you watching the baby while the other gets in 30 minutes to an hour of activity. If you used to work out together, determine who among family and friends visits regularly. Most likely, they would love to take care of your baby for an hour or so while both of you log some exercise time.

Many new parents feel uncomfortable leaving their baby with family or friends – even for a relatively short period of time. The home gym is a wonderful solution. You can take some time for yourself, but still be within earshot of the little one.

The time away not only does wonders for your physical health, it also relieves some of the mental stress and strain that comes with parenthood. Carve time out of your schedule for exercise. You’ll be better parents because of it. And as your children get older, you’ll be setting a healthy example for them.
